Laura Lorber is a journalist in the New York area. She specializes in service journalism, focusing on careers and small business.

Laura is currently Editor of FINS.com, a new finance careers site from The Wall Street Journal. She has does some freelance writing, mostly for The Wall Street Journal and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

She led small-business coverage at The Wall Street Journal’s Small Business Link, a monthly section of how-to features for the newspaper and WSJ.com from 2007 to 2008. As primary editor, she generated a calendar of ideas, assigned and edited stories for the print paper and oversaw all online extras, including video, podcasts and blogging.

Prior to WSJ’s Small Business Link, she was managing editor of CareerJournal.com, The Wall Street Journal’s careers site, as well as other WSJ.com vertical sites — StartupJournal.com, CollegeJournal.com and RealEstateJournal.com. Under her leadership, the sites won Webby, Eppy and Codie awards.

She joined Dow Jones & Co. Inc., publisher of The Wall Street Journal, in 1998, as associate editor of the National Business Employment Weekly newspaper and became managing editor in 1999.
